WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reports a 23 percent rise in questionable insurance claims in recent years. Fraud doesn’t just hurt insurance companies as the losses are largely passed on to legitimate customers in the form of increased premiums. The FBI calculates that such fraud costs more than $40 billion per year. That means insurance fraud costs the average American family between $400 and $700 per year in the form of increased premiums and reduced benefits. Fraud is a financial attack on each of us – it’s personal!

To combat this growing threat, Kentucky Special Investigations Unit was founded in 2007 to investigate, document, and assist in the prosecution of those who seek to harm the innocent. Our skilled investigators have the background in law enforcement, insurance, and government necessary to identify fraudulent activities in exaggerated and/or manufactured claims.
